PIPR #10

PIPR - Putrajaya Inter-Parks Ride (16th July, 2011)

I have participated in PIPR since the 3rd one held on 3rd Oct 2010. This time it coincides with the Floria event. And it's a night ride consisting of, according to the organizer, 1,300 riders. The 25km ride takes us through a 300-meter service tunnel from the Putrajaya Mosque's Souq area to the Putrajaya Holdings building. I am quite surprised by the size of the two-lane tunnel. This tunnel is not opened to public but this event has enabled me to explore and appreciate Putrajaya more. The rest of the route is quite usual for people like me who rides regularly in Putrajaya.

The tunnel is the tier underneath the Putra bridge. This bridge connects Putrajaya mainland to the core island.

The best part of the event is that my 16-year old son wins a Fixie in the lucky draw at the end of the ride. His lucky number - 554. It's a second grand prize after an MTB.

The fixie must be around RM500-RM600. Quite a flashy blue thing! He turns up dressed in blue outfit and it really matches the fixie. And he's very happy about it.

Project Bike - Benz

This is my first project of refurbishing a 20 year-old bike that was given to me by my father. I don't want to call it restoration as that normally involves getting something back to its original state. This is not. It's about getting this bike up and running!
